The signing ceremony took place at the Garden Oases Convention Center in Davao City, with DMW Officer-in-Charge Hans Leo Cacdac representing DMW and Director Allan Farnazo signing on behalf of DepEd Region XI.

Key Highlights of the MOA:

  1. Collaborative Partnership: The MOA signifies the official collaboration between DMW and DepEd XI in implementing sustainable reintegration programs and services tailored for OFWs and their families.
  2. Recognition of Alternative Learning System (ALS): DMW acknowledges the significant value of the Alternative Learning System and aims to integrate it into its reintegration initiatives for eligible migrant workers and their families. ALS offers flexible learning opportunities for individuals who may have missed formal education, providing them with a pathway to acquire essential knowledge and skills.
  3. Joint Efforts for Reintegration: Both agencies have committed to working together to develop and implement reintegration programs and services that leverage the ALS framework. This collaboration aims to facilitate the smooth transition of OFWs back into the educational system, enabling them to pursue and complete their high school or college education.
  4. Educational Mentorship: As part of the partnership, OFWs in Region XI will have access to mentorship and support from dedicated ALS teachers. These educators will guide and assist OFWs in navigating their educational journey, ensuring that they receive the necessary guidance and resources to achieve their academic goals.
  5. Empowering OFWs and Their Families: The MOA underscores the shared commitment of DMW and DepEd XI to empower OFWs and their families by providing them with opportunities for personal and professional growth. By integrating ALS into the reintegration programs, the partnership aims to equip OFWs with the educational foundation and skills needed to thrive in their respective fields and contribute positively to their communities.

In summary, the partnership between DMW and DepEd XI represents a significant milestone in advancing the welfare and development of OFWs and their families. By aligning their efforts and resources, both agencies can create a more supportive and inclusive environment that fosters the holistic reintegration of OFWs, empowering them to pursue lifelong learning and achieve their aspirations.
