Training Center that tested positive for illegal recruitment, closed by DMW

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Shuts Down Match Trend Training Assessment Center Corp. (Match Trend), a technical vocational institution in Quezon City, that positively offers jobs in Taiwan without proper authority or license from DMW that can participate in overseas employment.

With the leadership of Officer-in-Charge Hans Leo J. CACDAC, Assistant Secretary Francis Ron C. De Guzman and Directors Geraldine C. Mendez at Eric D. Dollete, immediately closes Match Trend in effect of a closure order.

It has been confirmed in several surveillance operations that the DMW has seized its illegal job offer in Taiwan for caretakers and factory workers. It was also found in the investigation that Trend Match is using its Facebook page to encourage people to work abroad.

Match Trend Modus to convince applicants to submit documents and undergo the Skills Training Program, in which applicants must pay Php 30,000.00 as training fee with an down payment of Php 6,000.00. It promises applicants that when an employer is found they will be referred to their partner agency.

They are also offering those who cannot pay the processing fee to borrow to a lending institution. It also ranges from Php 40,000 to Php 45,000, the additional fee depends on which agency the employer chooses.

To stop the illegal activities of Match Trend and no one will be victimized, the closure of the DMW includes the recommendation of cancellation of the business permit in Quezon City, cancellation of registration in Technical Education And Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and revocation of certificate of registration in Securities and Exchange Commission ( SEC )

By its closure, Match Trend, its owner and employees involved in illegal recruitment will face a case of illegal recruitment committed by a syndicate with life imprisonment and a fine of Php 2M to Php 5M. In addition, they will also be included in DMW list persons and establishments with derogatory records where they cannot participate overseas recruitment program of the government.
